Edmund Ek

Mr Edmund Ek graduated from Monash University in 2003. After receiving numerous undergraduate prizes he completed medical school with first class honours, graduating as the top student in the class of 2003.

Having decided at an early stage to pursue a career in plastic and reconstructive surgery, Edmund worked at St Vincent’s Hospital, Melbourne where he completed his Basic Surgical Training, being awarded the Sir Gordon Gordon-Taylor Prize in 2005 for the highest mark in the first part surgical examination.

After a year of advanced general surgical training Edmund began his plastic surgical training, spending time at all major plastic surgery centres in Melbourne, including The Alfred Hospital, Royal Melbourne Hospital and The Royal Children’s Hospital. Completing his fellowship training in 2011, Edmund has a special interest in microsurgery, head and neck reconstruction, skin cancer surgery, reconstructive and aesthetic breast surgery and hand surgery.

Edmund holds multiple public hospital appointments, working as a consultant plastic surgeon at St Vincent’s Hospital, The Alfred Hospital, Western Health, Northern Health and Barwon Health. He is also tenured at the University of Melbourne as a Senior Lecturer for the Faculty of Medicine, participating in medical student teaching, research and course development.

Edmund has also published numerous articles in the field of plastic and reconstructive surgery, presenting his work at several international meetings and having an ongoing interest in clinical research.
